“I love that 2016 is trending on the internet right now, because that’s where our love story began.

Imagine sunny Tallahassee, Florida. The internet’s favorite playlist is blaring as you step onto a sticky frat house floor, a ping pong ball rolling past your feet. And much like a cheesy 2010s college rom-com, the boy who asked you to be his partner that day quickly becomes your best friend — and over time, the love of your life.

We graduated and began our adult lives shortly before the pandemic started, and we’ve been so busy that it feels like time has flown by since then. Nearly 10 years together. Eight apartments. Six jobs. A four-year engagement. Three cities. Two years of grad school. And now, writing this after one full year of marriage.

We met the day before Jimmy’s 20th birthday, and now that we’re closing in on 30, people sometimes ask what it’s like to have known each other so young — or to have been together this long. Jimmy’s grandparents just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, so we can’t quite speak to what it’s like to spend an entire lifetime together (yet).

But we do love getting to grow up alongside one another. To figure out life together. To look back on those sillier, simpler college memories — especially on tougher days. It’s fulfilling to step back and see how far we’ve come, knowing we’ve leaned on each other to accomplish everything we have today.”
