“Dylan and I spent time together for the first time the week of Thanksgiving 2018. We had been communicating sporadically back and forth for a month after matching on Tinder. I had never actually gone on a date with someone I met from a dating app, and had no intention of meeting him- like, ever. I wasn’t looking for anything serious at the time, and Dylan would tell you the same. After finding out that we shared some mutual friends, I became a little more interested, and so we continued to talk back and forth. Dylan ended up asking me on a date, but because I was so nervous to actually meet him for the first time, I backed out the night before and pretended to be sick (I’m talking about literally running a thermometer under hot water and sending him a picture of it). I kind of figured he’d stop talking to me after cancelling at the last minute, but nope. A week later, I finally got over my nervousness and he took me on our first date to The Whiskey Bar in Downtown Augusta. We were pretty much inseparable after that date, spending nearly every day together. We went on our first big trip to see UGA play in the 2019 Sugar Bowl a month after meeting for the first time- it was there, in New Orleans, that we started “officially dating.”

Dylan proposed in January 2021 during his birthday trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was the perfect surprise and he was sure to include our dog, Trigg, and my best friend of 22 years, Kristyn, in the proposal. While I never thought I’d find “Mr. Right” by “swiping right” I am so thankful for finding my other half when I least expected it.”
