Bald Rock | Cleveland, SC Engagement (Evan & Hannah)
[Written by Evan]
“Hannah and I first found each other at the coffee shop I was managing. I say found, because the meeting didn’t come for a while. Hannah’s little sister, Hayley, worked with me at the coffee shop. I remember one of the first conversations we had, which was about how excited she was that her sister was finally coming home for the summer.
After Hannah returned from her mission trip, she walked in with her bright blonde highlights, shorts, and a pink t-shirt. Now, I don’t know what love at first sight is or if it even exists; I think love is enduring and can’t be decided in a moment. However, what I can tell you is that the moment I saw Hannah, I knew I would easily fall in love with her if I wasn’t careful. She has a certain air about her that people are attracted to; people naturally gravitate towards her.
I did not meet Hannah in my brightest form. I was a mess and I was aware of this, so I hid from her. Literally. Whenever I saw her, I suddenly would need to be in the kitchen or run an errand. Through another mutual friend, I was invited to a church function where we were officially introduced. I then worked up the courage to finally ask for her number. Our first date was to a young church in Wilmington, with lunch afterwards. This lunch was then interrupted by my two bosses who invited themselves, so I don’t actually recall what our first real date was.
All I know is from that day forward, we spoke every day and spent every minute we could together. We continued to fight feelings for a while, knowing I had a lot of growing to do; and so did she. I’m not the easiest person to get rid of though, once I’ve invested feelings. I knew there was something between us and that we could build something special together, so I was persistent in pursuing her.
Along the way, we’ve learned to love each other the way we need to be loved, and we continue to learn more every day. Hannah and I have made, and continue to make, the decision to be intentional. We intentionally put God first and love each other to the best of our ability. It’s been around three years that we’ve been together and I fall more and more in love with her every day. I cherish every memory with her, and I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives creating new memories.”
