The Cliffs at Glassy | Landrum, SC (Chris & Amber)

The Engagement -
Chris and Amber met during their sophomore year at the University of South Carolina. Chris grew up in Raleigh, NC, and Amber in Greenville, SC. What began as being next-door neighbors quickly turned into close friendship, and by senior year, their first date was at their favorite local burger spot.

After graduation, they began a long-distance relationship between Charleston, SC and Atlanta, GA while Amber attended physical therapy school and Chris started his first sales role. Three years later, Amber moved to Atlanta after earning her doctorate, and the two were finally in the same city again. Two years later, during a September weekend in Savannah, Chris proposed as they strolled the cobblestone streets. Amber said “yes,” and both families traveled to celebrate with them that night — an unforgettable moment they will always cherish.

The Wedding -
Chris and Amber set their wedding date for July 28, 2018, choosing The Cliffs at Glassy Mountain for its stunning views and timeless charm. The wedding weekend began with an intimate rehearsal dinner at The Lazy Goat in downtown Greenville, followed by a welcome party for guests the night before the wedding.

The big day began with the couple getting ready at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Greenville. Amber’s hair and makeup were beautifully done by Hannah McCall of Cotton Rouge, and she revealed her dress to her bridesmaids for the first time at the Cliffs Clubhouse. Though Chris and Amber chose not to do a first look, Amber shared an emotional moment with her father, surprising him with a tie embroidered with a personal message.

The ceremony took place at the Chapel at Glassy Mountain, framed by sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Surrounded by family and friends, the atmosphere was filled with love and anticipation. After the ceremony, the bridal party stayed behind for photos when Chris’ brother and best man, Michael, surprised everyone by introducing an unexpected guest — Cocky, the couple’s beloved college mascot.

After a short summer shower, the couple made their debut as husband and wife and enjoyed their first dances and heartfelt toasts with guests. Later, they slipped away to “the rock” at Glassy Mountain for a quiet moment together, soaking in the view and celebrating the start of their marriage.

The evening continued with a lively reception back at the Cliffs Clubhouse, featuring a packed dance floor, incredible food, and sweet personal touches, including jars of local honey harvested by the father of the bride as favors for guests. The night ended with “Wagon Wheel,” one of Chris and Amber’s favorite songs, before heading downtown to continue celebrating with friends and family.
