The Parsonage at St. Johannes | Charleston, SC (Xavier & Fahlyn)

"I moved to Chicago from the UK in February 2014. I didn’t really know anyone here, and so I thought it’d be fun to join ‘OK Cupid’ to see if someone might take pity and show me around. I’d never tried a dating website before, and didn’t have high expectations. I trawled through endless numbers of profiles before finding Fahlyn, who on paper seemed like the perfect match. And here we are, married after the best 5 years of my life. We met in a Tiki bar that sold cocktails from extravagant containers ranging from treasure chests, to octopuses and sea shells. It was great fun, and I was excited by how well we got on. Other dates involved bribing staff at a bowling alley, stuffing our faces with anything but British food, laughing until it hurt at comedy shows, and naming animals at the zoo.
Since then, we’ve travelled all over Europe, the US, and Costa Rica. Fahlyn shares my sense of adventure and love of the outdoors, and plans to travel the rest of the world with me."

"Xavier and I found each other on ‘OK Cupid,’ and after chatting we met for our first date in February of 2014. It was the coldest Chicago winter on record. We had arranged to meet at a Tiki bar called Three Dots and a Dash. I remember walking there from work and having to duck into multiple shops along the way to de-frost. That night our conversation flowed, and before we knew it, 5 hours had flown by. We talked about our travels, some of the funny differences between life in the US and the UK (he’s British), and our various interests. At the end of the night I knew I wanted to see Xavier again. He was so easy to talk to and so cute!
Over the last 4+ years we've shared so many incredible adventures, including adopting our strange, but lovable dog, Watson.
In September of 2017, Xavier and I took a trip to the West Coast, driving from San Francisco to Seattle, with stops along the way. Little did I know, Xavier planned to propose on this trip. After a day visiting vineyards and eating in Sonoma, he asked to marry me at sunset with a picnic, on a cliff top, where the Russian River meets the Pacific."
